Desensitizing and adjusting Assistance or Guide prospects to harnesses can be tricky. Heavy mobility harnesses hold their own risks with young dogs and can be very heavy and uncomfortable for a puppy to work in. There is also the risk of the handles on mobility harnesses accidentally having pressure put on them, as well as the financial complications of purchasing an expensive harness with the intent to use it for years, only for the dog to grow out of it midway through training.

Even on an adult dog, fitting a harness correctly takes some work and like people, there isn't a "one size fits all" solution - your dog's puppy harness could end up fitting everywhere else except the chest or saddle as an adult, which could still make the harness unsuitable if adjustments aren't possible. For those with older rehomes or rescue dogs, purchasing a full mobility set can feel like a big commitment when the dog is still going through an adjustment period and they aren't sure where their journey will take them just yet.

Our starter harnesses are here to bridge that gap. In a range of four styles, they are significantly more affordable than a full custom set and allow your dog to become adjusted without the additional weight, stress or expense.

One to Two shades of in-stock light weight leather, 16mm to 25mm straps and hardware, nickel or antique brass hardware, Sherpa padding on girth & chest, 2x O or D Rings. Riveted and/or screws used instead of stitching aside from padding.
